Actress Diane Lane is going to cut off her hair on NBC's Today Show to encourage women to donate their hair to cancer patients in need of wigs.
In order to make the most beautiful, realistic, durable wigs, donated hair must meet these requirements:
- Donated hair must be at least 8 inches long (measured from just above the elastic band of the ponytail to the ends).
- Hair must be unprocessed. It can't be permanently colored, bleached, relaxed, permed, or otherwise chemically treated.
- Hair may be colored with vegetable dyes, rinses and semi-permanent dyes and still be eligible.
- Hair cannot be gray.

My niece Syndi is growing her hair out to do the same thing. What a
noble and useful cause. It doesn't cost any money - you simply grow out
your hair and then chop it off for a great cause for women battling cancer.
