Be a Health 2.0 Star

Star Posting this on behalf of the cool people at the Health 2.0 conference:

We are excited to announce a new panel format at our Spring Health 2.0 conference, "Connecting Consumers and Providers" in San Diego on March 3-4, 2008. In addition to spotlighting demos and reactions from industry experts, we will be capturing the user-experience of people living with health conditions as they use Health 2.0 technologies in their everyday lives.

Has the web changed your life? Does it help you deal with the isolation of a condition or improve your quality of life in some other way? We are looking for a few good consumers/patients to feature live on stage or in a video segment. Our roving video crew will be traveling the country to document interesting real-life stories showing how Health 2.0 impacts both people and the healthcare system.

And for those of you budding videographers, we are also accepting user-generated video clips that show how you are using Health 2.0 technologies in your daily life. Maybe it's an active online community where you've found support, a portable medical device, an online tracking tool, a blog, a video game, a virtual world, or some combination of the above. If you have something to say, we'd love to hear about it so we can help you share your stories with your peers and other members of the Health 2.0 community. We welcome you to join the conversation with some of the most progressive minds in healthcare including consumers, health providers, technologists and entrepreneurs. If you are a physician using health 2.0 technologies to connect with your patients or if you know of patients for whom technology has made a real difference, please drop us a line.

Conference Planning Time! 7th Annual ePharma Summit and Health 2.0

It's hard to believe it, but our schedule is filling up fast for next year already.  There are two events in the next couple of months we are really looking forward to: The Health 2.0 Conference and the ePharma Summit.

We know Matthew Holt and Indu Subaiya are hard at work creating a great program and roster of speakers for the second Health 2.0 event
(March 3-4, 2008 at the Westin San Diego). And their advisory board is packed with an amazing roster of people which now includes Esther Dyson.  We can't wait, as we'll be unveiling some great OrganizedWisdom developments and news at this event...

We'll also be participating at the 7th Annual ePharma Summit this
January 28-30, 2008.  We had a great time presenting last year and stirred things up a bit with our discussions on Social Media with the pharmaceutical marketers.  There has been so much progress made by the industry in the past 12 months, and there's a compelling lineup of speakers and panelists including Steve Case, Jack Barrette, Peter Frishauf, and Daniel Palestrant, so this year's event should really be amazing and foster some great discussion between Health 2.0 leaders and the pharmaceutical industry.

The event is at The Ritz Carltion, Philadelphia, PA.  For more information you should visit www.epharmasummit.com.

Hope to connect with you at these events and many others throughout the coming months!

The Future of Web Search: Human Power

We've published an article today about the power of human intelligence when combined with great technology over on Internet Evolution, a new site about the future of the Internet.

The beginning of the piece below, click thrugh for the full article...

The race for the ultimate online search engine continues to unfold as engineers, math geniuses, and computer scientists work to create more efficient and accurate search tools. But a new crop of search services are taking a much different approach: combining great technology with the power of human intelligence.

In recent years, the hottest Web companies have put endless efforts into creating innovative search technologies and complex algorithms -- the computer programs that index the Web and seek to match your search terms to the most relevant sites. Google is perhaps the greatest example, and its algorithm is helping the company try to achieve an awe-inspiring mission: to organize the world's Web information.

Yet, in the past year, it has become clear that even these complex algorithms have their limits. Faced with a tsunami of new Web pages, user-generated content, and black-hat search engine optimizers constantly trying to "game" the algorithm, it has become increasingly difficult for algorithm-based searches to effectively sort through the clutter on the Web. As a result, users waste time searching, and often become frustrated because they never find what they are looking for....Click to read the full article.

OrganizedWisdom Wants You! We're Growing, Hiring and Having Fun Helping People

Holiday spirit is in the air, New York City received its first snow yesterday and things are moving faster than ever at OrganizedWisdom.

We're thrilled to announce that after only a few weeks since our new beta launch, we're growing quickly and our guide and physician review programs are exploding with productivity.  From word of mouth alone, we already have over 100 guides working on WisdomCards and more than 20 physicians on the physician review team.  We'll be bringing on several hundred more guides in the coming months to join this movement to organize the world's best health wisdom, so if you know anyone who is interested please help us spread the word (and this link).

New WisdomCards are being created so quickly now it's hard to keep up!  Not for long though because this week we just hired two more full-time team members, both of whom started as part-time guides.  Their work is so good that we brought them on full-time so that we can review WisdomCards even faster and focus on creating special WisdomCard requests.

And we're not done growing...In fact, we're just beginning.  And we're currently hiring and looking to bring on the very best of the best.  We're updating our job listings frequently and you can learn about our open positions here.

Want to join the movement to help people get better health information? Want to be part of a new company dedicated to innovation and progress?

Sound like something you want to be a part of? Here are our basic requirements:

1. You are the very best at what you do.

2. You have a passion for building something special that will help a lot of people.

3. You must be a "batteries included" type person. In other words, you contribute energy, enthusiasm and value to the people you interact with. You're a self-starter and you come up with ideas, challenge existing notions of how things are being done and you don't need to be micromanaged.

4. You know, without any doubt, that you want to work in a fast-growing start-up and are happy working remotely. That means you are comfortable telecommuting, using video chat, instant messaging, and you love to be "online". Although we do have an office in New York City, we live and work primarily online and only want people who want to live and work online too!

Check out any of the Open Positions and send your resume and cover letter to careers <at> organizedwisdom <dot> com, mentioning the job title in your subject line.
