I agree competely.

I was looking into ways to make my office more 'green' as well. Virtual is the way to go. Technology has advanced so much, all you really need is that business address. Meeting rooms you can rent by the hour at many business centers, client or not.

There are of course plus / minus with it. You really have to monitor people even more closely. Working on your own may mean you might want to go to the beach every morning, and then once in a while catch that soccer game on tv. At a workspace you can't really do that, with your fellow colleagues around.

Again, key is technology of course I agree. You might miss on some better workers, who are not as technologically adapt.

I like working at home because I seem to get more done. Cut the commute time I can work an extra 2-3 hours a day, because I'd spend this time commuting anyway!

Great post, thank you.

Jacky

I am grateful for the ability to be able to work for this company from home. All the reasons you provide above give me the ability to stay home with my children (which in turn saves on daycare and gas expenses). It's hard to find a good job that you can do 100% from home, but OW has provided just this. Thank you for *going green*!

Great post!

Since your blog is about health issues, you might want add the following to your list:

- Studies show that 80% of diseases show that stress is a trigger. Because telework reduces stressful commutes and alleviates caregiver separation issues, teleworkers are likely to suffer fewer stress-related illnesses.

- Teleworkers are exposed to fewer occupational and environmental hazards at home.

- Teleworkers suffer fewer airborne illnesses because of lack of contact with sick co-workers.

- Telework is central to Federal Government and Fortune 1000 continuity of operations plans specifically because it offers a safe haven in the event of a pandemic.

- Teleworkers report being able to make more time for exercise.

- Teleworkers can eat healthier and are less inclined to consume fast food lunches.

- Less driving reduces the risk of a traffic accident. Highway deaths cost $60 billion a year and result in 3 million lost workdays.

- More than a quarter of accidents occur during commuting hours.

- 78% of people who call in sick, really aren’t. They do so because of family issues, personal needs, and stress.

- Unscheduled absences cost employers $1,800/employee per year; that adds up to $300 billion/yr for U.S. companies.

- Teleworkers typically continue to work when they’re sick (without infecting others).

- Teleworkers return to work more quickly following surgery or medical issues.

- Flexible hours allow teleworkers to run errands or schedule appointments without losing a full day.

What's more, telework could reduce our Persian Gulf oil dependence by 60-75%. These and other benefits are covered more fully at Undress4Success.com

File Shredders

Working for government department where each and every word is confidential. Knowing that your shredded documents cannot be reassembled and that your confidential information is safe is worth every cent of the cost of a paper shredder

File Shredders

Going Green virtually has evolved and help the companies in many ways. The people can work from home and save on gas.

Multifunction Printers

I agree companies grow keeping their goals set and gaining confidence on way to goals achievements .
