You can learn a lot from a search trend, for instance, what's catching, both figuratively AND literally. As a mom and OrganizedWisdom's metrics nerd-in-chief, I felt it was my duty to share the top children's health queries leading people to our site last week. You'll notice that a few virus-related keywords have, ahem, gone viral.
1. "pictures of chickenpox"
The good news is there is a vaccine, and fortunately it's sparing most children the itchy agony of this highly contagious virus (pictured).
2. "pictures of herpangina"
Another viral illness, but this one causes painful sores in the mouth. At least they tend to clear up within a week.
3. "roseola rash"
Notice a rash on your child's trunk and neck? It could be roseola, a viral illness that most kids experience before kindergarten.
4. "croup cough sound"
Croup, an infection common among toddlers, causes a cough that some compare to the barking sound a seal makes. Hopefully you haven't heard it lately.
5. "video game
addiction statistics"
Despite the legendary outbreak of Pac Man Fever in the 1980s, video game addiction has never been caused
by a virus. However, it might just be more infectious than
all of the illnesses mentioned above. Parents, take note.
