Over the past several weeks our team has received a tremendous amount of support, feedback and suggestions for how we can keep improving OrganizedWisdom, a free service we are building to connect people with health experts and their wisdom online.
As we've said many times in the past, we are very early in what we are building and very much in a phase of constant improvement and iteration. We're an agile company and innovate fast. But because much of what we are doing has never been done before, we continue to learn, optimize, and hopefully improve with each iteration. And nearly all of the progress we make each day is a result of the feedback and suggestions that come from the many doctors we speak to each day, or people who are asking for better online health solutions. So thank you all!
Here are a few of the recent improvements we've launched to give enhanced controls to health experts with profiles on OrganizedWisdom. There are many more to come in the coming days and weeks...
More Experts Claiming Profiles
There are two ways to get an Expert Profile on OrganizedWisdom. A health expert can apply and be approved by our medical review team to receive their own free customizable profile. Or experts can be nominated (also free). Those who are nominated and meet our quality standards and receive a profile can then claim and control their profile at anytime. (For those who do not wish to have a profile even if nominated can of course easily request to be removed at anytime).
We've improved our notification process greatly in an effort to reach everyone who has been nominated. We do this by email or Direct Message when possible. We also tweet people so that they can view their profile to claim it if they want, leave it as is, or have it removed. While it can be a challenge to reach everyone easily, we are pleased to have more experts claiming their profiles than ever before.
Add or Edit Tags Associated with Links
We tag each resource that is tweeted, or shared in our system, with useful keywords to help organize and categorize links to make them more discoverable by people. Experts who have claimed their profiles are now able to add or remove tags to improve how these links get organized. This helps make resources more discoverable, and also improves how links get filtered for our Expert Health Alerts. When experts improve their own tags it helps the whole community and anyone searching for that information.
Easily Delete any Resource from Your Contributions Stream
We've made it super simple for any logged in expert to delete links or resources from their contributions streams.
Manage and Control Your Contributions Feeds
Experts can now easily add or delete their own content streams.
Add Your Blog or RSS Feed
In addition to your Twitter account, experts can now easily add their blog and RSS feeds to their profile. Soon experts will also be able to add their Quora, LinkedIn, Facebook and other sites and easily collect all of their health contributions in one place. We will automatically organize it, and provide useful analytics and stats, and further distribute the links, posts, articles, and other contributions via our Expert Health Alerts.
New Disclaimer
We don't have advertising anywhere on profiles but we do have advertising on other areas of OrganizedWisdom. This is one way our business makes money and how we are able to make this a free service for experts and for people who need access to these experts and their wisdom.
Major Redesign for How We Feature Publishers and the Experts Who Share Their Links
We've done a complete over-hall on how we feature health resources and the experts who share them publicly online designed to increase traffic to publishers and exposure for the heroes who RT and share them publicly for the benefit of others. We limit the article synopsis to less than 160 characters (just like Google), changed the meta description to be more clear, made the original tweet more prominent to maintain the original context, added additional attribution to both the original publisher/source and those experts who shared the resource.
We continue to make these types of enhancements sitewide on a daily basis and have more work to do, but are very pleased with initial feedback so far. We welcome your comments and suggestions. If you are a health expert we hope you will apply. And if you haven't tried our Expert Health Alerts, please test them out...As always, we are truly thankful for all of your suggestions and support.
